as above, how hard is it to do this on an x14xe, what is needed to be removed and if it was to be done in a garage would it be expensive.

Which end?
Fly or cambelt?
Both are quite a long job.
Easier to the cambelt end one.
Alt belt off, cambelt off, covers off, old seal out, new in.

dont forget the hardest bit imo....getting that bottom cam belt cog off to get to the seal, was a complete bitch on mine lol 
doing it yourself youll need the cam shaft locking tool etc to lock the cams when you take the belt off

dont necessarily need locking tool if your confident with doin the belt

It should just slide off 
Mine did.
You do occasionally get one thats proper tight on the crank and takes a beating/a proper puller to remove.
