eyup only me again lol, right basically we have a group of fox's that come to the field across the road from me and recently they have had cubs. so i thought i would try and get some pics of them but when i take a pic it comes out blurred (camera seems to take ages to take the pic) i havnt put the camera into night pic mode in auto as the flash would scare the fox's away. there is a street lamp just next to where they come providing some light. its just iratating because im not sure of what settings to change to stop the pictures being blurred.

the picture was taken while i was sat in my car through the windscreen. but i took a pic before it went dark and it was fine, what settings do i need 2 change without using flash.

Your shutter speed needs to be faster but doing so will probably under expose the picture.

What camera do you have? D40?
Get the shutter speed to about 1/60
ISO 800
White balance needs to be altered to, so the pic isn't orange.
Does that make sense?

Hes going to need iso at 1600 at least for a shot with that light!

even at that shooting a moving fox would be tough, especially through a windscreen, as I can see it trying to focus on its reflection.

cheers lads i will mess about with settings next time im off work  ,im buying a 55-200mm lens this weekend so i should be able to just open my bedroom window and take pics from there.
dont worry about the fox's moving they stand there long enough feeding  its pictures of the cubs i really want, thanks again for the advise

now i have my new lens 55-200mm and a tri-pod i can get a decent view from my bedroom window what settings would you advise me using iso? shutter speed,apature? going to take a few shots this sunday hopefully. cheers

On a Nikon highest ISO possible, start off using the auto functions on the camera to let it tell you what it think is best. Then jump to full manual and experiment

Highest Iso, max aperture, probably a tripod and slow shutter or failing that use the flash, sure it wouldnt scare them?

got a fair few snaps but most came out blurred better than last time, im thinking its my shutter speed i was shooting in auto with iso at 1600.
thats the best one i got.
and this is what i get if the subject moves ever so slightly
anyways off to bed now night all
