If the Z18XE pickup pipe won't fit the X16XE sump, you MIGHT be able to use the X16XE pickup pipe, if they both mount the same.
I would imagine the sumps are interchangable as the blocks are basically the same part...

The blocks are different. Internal breather setup etc on the 1800.
But basic design is the same.
Warren, cant you "persuade" the manifold to fit?
I know Lee303 on mig, when he fitted his 1800, his manifold from his 1600 fitted the 18 fine....

No, the 1800`has an internal breather system, whereas the 1600 runs external through the back of the block/breather pipes.
Hence you cant fit a 1600 head onto the 1800 block
