has any1 had these tappets repaired or replaced in your engines? how much did it cost? i THINK my tappets are gone. im not sure. thers a knocking sound in the engine and it gets faster wen i accelerate.

does any1 know how much it costs ta fix?

my cars a 1.4 16v btw

How fast it the noise and it is definitely coming from the head when you pop the bonnet when idling?

Is it a ticking or a knocking?

Ticking is maore a topend noise and knocking is more a bottom end nose!

hmm..... could be hydraulic lifters maybe.

Nosies Cams!?! think the lifters are 20 - 30 quid each i think!
There is 16 tho!

Im not completely sure that how much they are tho.

its not head gasket. i know that so dont no1 pop up with that suggestion. its just a very thin oil.

mine does this 2, had cambelt replaced 1k ago, with the rollers, mines just tics/knocks and comes from head! just on tickover wen i accelerate it goes! sounds like the alternator pulley bearing maybe??

mine fcuked up, replaced them with ones from Kent Cams, got new cams while i was at it, £550 or so.

I wont touch 16v engines anymore - more trouble than their worth. My old GSi used to drink oil - 1 litre every 800 miles.

yeah my 106 drinks 1/2 a litre every 500 miles thought there was a problem with it asked pug they sed it was normal seems like a lot to me tho
