Yes, you want 5mm ones. If you want them for the MFD, don't use blue 'cos they don't light up well. If you want blue use LED's. Red and green both look very good.

corsanut on here sells LEDs to replace everything in dash. There have been loads of posts on this. You can buy them off him, he should be getting some more in soon and will prob post up then! £20 and you get enough for everything, MFD heater lights and speedo

Like I said, you can get "plug and play" leds. These are mounted in a bulb holder and are a direct swap for the original bulbs. Mainly in blue but you can have almost any colour including UV.

Corsanut does the plug and play things I think! What can you buy from maplins? I got resistors and bulb holders etc can build them myself easy solder and everything at uni

cobra i got same set up as u 
blue covers come up limey/white
yellow makes no diff
tried red covers on blue leds to make purple but dint work
