whois will give you who the domain is registered by and the domain servers it uses.
really you need to get the ip of the website, by doing something like
nslookup www.google.co.uk
then from that you'll get an IP address which you can do a whois on, find the netblock owner and bobs your uncle (in some cases..)

On my old whois the registered name was Titty McTitwank, and the address was in neverland  (Changed it after stuff in post came )
Got a screenshot somewhere, will try and find it
