If you're going for an 8v lump then aye, the 130 is really the only one worth doing! An 8v on twin webers will shift!

my mate had the cav sri 8v engine in his nova, wasn't as fast as my old redtop but deffo a good engine to use, who ever says its not really worth doing hasn't driven one before. good strong engine and if you want to make it faster like eck said wack some twin 45's on there should see you up to 150 ish bhp

It's the same amount of work to put an 8v in as it is to put a 16v in. You will end up with a quick little car what ever motor you use, but unless your getting the 8v very cheap then I wouldn't bother. £500 for a courtney engine sounds ok as I've sold standard redtops for £450.

yes i did, but them being better low down dosn't make them faster top end does it!
all i remeber is when i used to have my 1.2 8v it would pull out of junctions better than my current 1.2 16v and thats got 20bhp more than the 8v

Huge advantage to the 8v over 16v...It's lighter (about the same as the x16xe), and wont compromise your handling as much as the 16v will.
And there's more room to work in the engine bay once its fitted

tbh it's hardly any lighter than an xe, everything the same apart from the head, and that isn't heavy at all, few kg's if that
