I called o2 today to downgrade my contract to pay as you go, about to move into my new house with my gf so getting rid of non essential costs like phone contracts.
Went through to the rententions department where they said they couldn't access the appropriate options as my contract isn't in its last month until 14 July. She asked me why I wanted to leave o2, I explained I don't want to leave just downgrade.
She then mentioned that they could do some sort of free contract? Does anyone know what this could be? Is it just the top up ten pounds per month for free minutes?

Well she didn't explain her self very well, just mentioned that rather than switch to pay as you go there was another option. I'm guessing you could be right though, probably is the sim only contract.

Yeah will be sim only contract
check their website for the details
its still a contract but only 30 days rolling and will typically be £10 per month less ie. maybe £20 p/m for 1000 mins and 600 texts perhaps

Pain in the bum these contract phones. I'm trying to cut down my monthly out goings but still got 6 months on my contract. Anyway around this? 02 again btw.
Originally had it when i was at uni, then just renewed when i got a job. Since then got a works phone so don't really need a contract with free minutes..

May not be a sim only contract.
When i asked to leave, they put me on a contract which was summit like £10 a month. they then gave me 20% off a month, making it 8 quid. Then gave me a credit of 96. so i paid nothing.
Got something stupid like 25 mins 25 txts

Well I've got to call back after 14th July as she couldn't access the correct part of my file.
