Your allowed 2 years anyway arnt you. Near the time, buy a shitter for 100 and dump it on your drive and insure it. I no if it had no tax/mot its void, but you wouldnt claim anyways so what does it matter!

You need to be the registered keeper of the car to be able to be the main name on the insurance certificate.

If you have someone with a small car and you need to save for more than two year, go one year on and one year off policy holder wise with someone!
Most companies are if you havent had a policy in your name for more than two years, your NCB are redundant BUT some companies accept three years but unsure which do.

Just buy a car. Anything else is hassle. Find something old and tatty with a months tax and ticket and transfer your policy over.
