mate was getting a new phone and i was looking aswell (cant change mine for a while so still chance for more phones to come out ) but atm its between the samsung tocco (which my mate got) or the htc diamond.
opinions on both?
the tocco had some little things i didnt like but i imagin you could change once i knew about it more (ie when you went into create a text it automatically comes up with the numbers and not letters.) the menus also felt a bit samsung'y and boring imo.
never seen the diamond up and running so dont know what its like.
current phone: htc touch

the tocco is an awesome phone mate once you get used to it. ive never really liked samsungs but that one is awesome.
the diamond is a great phone but depends what you use the phone for. the htc will have windows whereas the tocco wont so emailing will be better on the diamond. but the tocco has better camera.
diamond does come with 4gb allowance aswell but dont think can take a card mate

tbh i got the current phone cause it had windows on it but iv never actually used it
the only thing thats putting me off the tocco is the menu's and the fact the the texting issue (but i imagine it could be changed).
htc = i like the current set up on mine ie menu wise. so imagine the diamond is a step up and better

I had the htc touch cruise which was the one before the diamond.
Amazing phone, built in satnav, wifi, did everything.
I missed buttons and didn't use any of the features except phonecalls, texts (i stopped sending most of them because it was a pain in the arse using the onscreen keyboard and the message system) and the sat nav.
Sold it for a hefty profit and got an e51 instead.
If you won't use any of the windows mobile features i'd give it a miss, very cool for the geek factor though.

how easy is it to txt? as the touch annoys me at times with the keyboard being so small and the diamond has a smaller screen so is it going to be worse?

the technology is better, its more responsive. Plus there are about 3more input methods than the touch. Its leaps and bounds ahead.
Go to www.coolsmartphone.com i think theres a good review of it on there with screen shots etc...

They are cool but if you won't use any of the windows mobile features i'd advise against it, the interface isn't as good as say a nokia.

i cant see it being much differnt interface wise than mine atm. and the menu system on mine i think is much better than samsung's
and i wont ever go nokia (older phones were brilliant and bomb proof new ones imo just seem to have gone downhill and far too fragile kinda thing)

i didnt mean fragile that way sorry i mean more tempermental as to working and not working. two of my cousins have had nokias and both broke within a couple of months. so just kinda been put off them tbh.
like with all things electronic its a bit of luck ofthe draw as to if it works and all that but i just feel nokia have gone down hill by trying to put too much technology into the phone.

nokias are far better than anything else on the market imo. N/E series ftw!
And the diamond has the same level of technology as an nseries?
