On a turbo converted car is it possible to have a remap that can have say 3 different settings.. So setting 1 can run 0.2 psi, setting 2 can run 0.5 and setting 3 full? If so how much more expensive would it be.

Wouldn't you just get your car setup with a boost controller?

a lot of aftermarket ECU systems can have different maps.

TBH its a pointless excersize as you will effectively pay for 3 different maps as less boost means you will need different fuel and ignition timing maps.

When customers ask me for switchable maps on performance cars I always reply with the same suggestion, if you dont want it to boost as much, or have as much performance, then the best switch is the throttle pedal. Use it less.

On some remaps with standard ecu's we do switchable maps between performance and economy, the difference is huge between the 2 settings in both performance and economy. Best suited to Turbo diesels though.

Could the same theory be used on turbo petrol. Remap a standard ECU for performance and economy.. If so how much?

yes, on some turbo petrol models, depens on how the boost is controlled. If you can limit boost via the ecu it can be done, did a Zafira gsi recently. Map 1 made 212 bhp with about 27psi, map 2 made 163bhp with 7-8 psi

the difference is 26mpg vs 37 mpg
