until I see a successful prosecution for this then I may think about it, not that i download much anyway
Not prosecution you get your internet cut off.

i think then that would still be your problem, as you cant prove otherwise. and your connection should be secure.

WEP and WPA can both be penetrated if the hacker is good enough....they must have got into your wireless LAN that way Cosmo

it wont be in the companies interests to cut you off unless legislation is implemented that somehow the ISP becomes liable for assisting the downloading of copyright material. It would also need to be proven that what you are downloaded is actually copyright material therefore i don't think that it will be happening anytime soon.

I know, they are mother fuckers for doing that round here.
Anyway, I dont have to make my wireless secure if I dont want to - its my choice to do so.

I think most isp's say you do have to make it secure or anything that happens is your problem.
I won't be worrying about it until the FBI are at my door though.

That's an interesting read (Just read first few and last few pages of that)...
It's fasinating that loads of them keep getting 'We are taking you to court' letters, but no action has actually been taken... Note some people recieved initial letters back mid 07 and are still recieving them a year later in mid 08!
I personally don't think the company wants to take anyone to court due to cost and risk of it not being a success... instead it's enjoying 'scaring' odd people into paying up (horrendous fines ranging from £590-£2000) ... for the fact that if one or two people do pay up out of 100 it's worth constantly sending these out and scaring the people.
I've book marked that thread for future reading... A lot of people have had their 'case' dropped just when they've given clever replies about the legalities of unsecured internet etc. (Probably just because the company realises it's not gonna get money from them and gives up).
It's just as bad as Scamming, even if it is legit.
