My 1.2 16v has an idle control solenoid... is this the same as an idle control valve?
Just i can't see much point cleaning a solenoid, it either works or doesn;t.

I guess thats the same as an ICV. Probably the same part as fitted to the 1.4/1.6 16v. It winds in and out, so if its gumed up it wont function properly. Im actually selling a pretty much brand new one of these on ebay at the moment...

When i'm stopped at light and then try and pull of it quite often loses power almost on the verg of stalling.
Definately more than a flatspot.
Also the power is uneven through the revs (although that might be the induction kit)

Crank sensor would give more of a problem.
Why not fit your air box back on and see if it gets better?
Crank sensor about £50.
Is it ok on full throttle?

Right, i took the idle solenoid off and sprayed it with wd40... it comes off choke more smoothly but the problem still occurs.
It happens on part throttle or full throttle.
Which makes me think the EGR might be jammed open.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
Could be a million and one things, poor ingnition, inlet leak post AFM, speedo drive in the gearbox (mate had that on his GSI), poor earths etc.
