Incidentally, if the Manta was so good, Vauxhall would have put a 435bhp engine in it, like Ford did in the Capri, and raced it in Group 4.

Opel didn't build something like this though
600bhp from a 1.7 litre engine and 845kg
The Manta didn't do quite as well in Group B as the Capri in Group 4 and Group 5 either.
This was the best Opel could come up with
275bhp from a 2.4 litre engine and 980kg

Courtenay did I think, so did Pace (of dry sump fame) and Broadspeed, who, bizarrely, tuned Capris too

Sounds good
How come it's a R******T Scimitar? I got very confused at 1st, then i saw the title.... I'm guessing that they also put the engine in there for some reason.

They used the Manta engine in the Astra 4S, with a turbo, but never used it in Group B as it was banned

Someone built it for hillclimbs, the Scimitar weighs less than the Capri but has all the good bits from it, like the suspension etc

Scimitar. Now that's another cool car I would like to add to my imaginary collection in my head. I don't quite understand why though

Absolutely WTF at the comments about it handling badly. It's a drag car.
There are plenty of people keeping them clean and if you're that worried about saving one, go do it, they're cheaper than Capris.

There seems to be a large percentage of morons on here. Handling badly. WTF, it's made for driving in straight lines.
