How does this come off? I've just broken a second one now
It makes no reference to the air con knob in the Haynes manual.

I read in the Haynes manual that it is built into the air con unit and canot be removed, but I think it can be. Can't remember where in the manual it says this but I've definitely read it there.

Here ya go: 12.6 right hand side "Air Conditioning System Switch"
The Air Con system control switch is an integralpart of the heating/ventilation control unit, and cannot be removed. Should the switchbecome faulty, the complete control unit assembly must be renewed (see chapter 3).
Hope this helps.

After breaking them off, I can see that the knob is held in place by a sprung piece of plastic like the air direction control, but I cannot see any way to release it.
I've got an Irmscher panel and some chromed knobs to fit if I can get the original one off without breaking the shaft. Might have a very careful look in the morning.

How? I can get the air direction and heated rear window ones off no problem, but on the air con I've snapped two shafts trying to get it off.
