This week I have just Had Broadband activated in my house. my ISP is Sky and they could only offer me a 10Mb Connection.
Fair enough I thought as I'm A regular user of the Internet. To say I'm angry with the speed is an understatment
It takes 20 mins to load onto most pages and Youtube is out the question because it took an hour just to start playing the video This is the only site which works porfectly every time at a very pleasant speed
Surely this shouldn't be
It's not my computer because I've just bought a brand spanking Lappy and Is what I a use to brows. What I do know is that sky are useing BT's servers at my local exchange.
What can I do to solve my problem? because quite frankly it's doing my nut in trying to read E-mails ect.

google sam knows, test what speed you can get there. depends on distance from exchange and how many people in your area have adsl broadband you see..

Try phoning customer support. Why do people always ask on here

Because usually you get fobbed off with the same old excuses that are either lies or they think you are stupid, which, admittedly, the majority of customers are.

Ok, but you might not, so you will be a damn sight closer to getting the problem sorted.

Dont suppose you have another router you can try it with? Or with Sky dont they give you your account details?
Have you got it on a wired or wireless connection? If on wireless try going wired and see if it makes a difference

Not on me, it seems faster with the cable and I shall be getting a new wireless modem off a friend tonight to see whether that makes a difference

Normally the first 10 days your DSL has to establish a high stable speed.
I can't remember where I read this, but apparently you should restart (or turn off/on) your router once a day for the first 7 days, then leave it on constantly for the next 3 days.
