I hopefully pick my new house keys up tomorrow and was thinking of getting both put in to keep me on track of the bills

mine has anyway; I pay DD of £30 a month even though we use less than £1 per month at the moment, so we're building up a good credit level for when we move in

Used to live in a student house with one, pain in the arse when the power goes! But if it's a proper house and you keep on top of it you'll be fine, will keep you in track with your bills i suppose

But if you have normal meters and pay by DD you get DD discounts, not a hige amount but it all helps these days. As LiveLee said, as a normal user you will be looking at £30 a month for each fuel

Pre-pay menters mean you end up paying more for gas. They are a pain in the arse when they run out and your in the shower so no hot water!

Good thing about pre paid is you are more aware of what you are using so as a result tend to save energy better!
And like people have also said you dont get a nasty surprise when a bill comes in!
Only thing i would say is look into the nearest pay point first as there is only 1 place we can top up within about a 5 mile radius which can be a pain in the arse sometimes
