The Rallye is group 9, and you can pick one of the earlier models for 2.5K. What you save on the car you can plough into the insurance costs. At least you'll have a car that might hold some of its value, unlike a punto which will be worth bugger all when you come to sell it.

cheapest option would be the sporting punto or 1.2 corsa sxi...pick one up for 3 grand or so and insurance will be low as there around the 3 or 4 mark...best bet one of these.
GT - Too expensive to insure
GTI- Ditto
1.6 Sport - Ditto
May be able to stretch to insure 1.4 sport.

I would forget about a car if your skint. they cost way too much money. put the cash in an ISA and let it make you some money

The handling is good, the seats are not up to standard.

Yes, I am a in agreement.
I do not rate Type-R's though. This is because I believe them to be very over-rated.

Why do you want to know this? This would indicate to me that you want to know offset/stud pattern to allow you to purchase aftermarket wheels.
I did not think you had "no" money

ojc very good - i have a budget of 2 grand for the car - hence if i get the car for 1500 then it is within reason that i may be able to pick up some secondhand alloys yes - i was un aware that my financial position was going to be of so much interest to the corsasport cru - oh well - there u have it - anyone know anyhting else with the same offset etc?
also i know its gonna be slow - all the cars i will be able to insure are slow - but is it possible to make them handle ok for cheap - i.e a set of springs and a set of wheels? - possibly even a strut brace?
