finally, got around to joining the site!! been reading with interest the rally projects on here..keep goin lads . as i set up my race engineering business ive decided to join in on the project picnic and chuck a sprint/hillclimb corsa in to the mix.. inbetween the now busy winter testing schedule anyway!! so i'll try to keep you all up to date on not only the corsa but the xe powered westfield (285bhp/470kg=0-60 2.4 secs),and maybe even the formula ford i engineer full time.
all the cars can be seen on dsracing profile.
so far the sprinstar has been shed of her undergarments and rear seat..couple of cobra seats/sparco harnesses to go in.
jobs for corsa;
*decide on engine- 2.0l to heavy, thinking 1.4/1.6 hybrid
*shotblast, recon and repaint calibre wheels
*think about suspension set up, stopping power depending on engine
*remove rear tints

engine spec is, qed t/bods,pace dry sump, arrow cam followers, silly profile kent cams, omega piston/rods..bottom end is not too dissimilar from standard-balanced and a fair bit more really, all power figures are v.accurate as its qed..and now paul at exon engines.

think ive made a decision on the direction of the car.
*stickers off lol..i was bored, honestly
*selling cobra seats
*install fia seat with fixed side frame
*remove rear tints
*1400 x14 engine, cam, 4-2-1 manifold, good exhaust
*adjustable dampers, drop maybe around 35mm front and 40mm rear
*gsi skirts
*c/fibre bonnet or black
*keep wheels, but can't decide on colour!!
*custom and adjustable front ARB
*test a cpl of different brake compounds
*alcantre the dash and spray all orange black
thats for now anyway..really need to strip to a bare shell and build it as i would build any competition car but don't have the space or another workhorse so for now this will all do. recommendations and suggestions welcome.

just an update on the fford, had qualy and race1 today..tried a new qualy strategy whih pulled off and qualified within 6 tenths of class pole. race 1 was tricky with half the iruit being mildly damp and the other bone dry, after a fair amount of wheelspin we had to remake places but after a mid-late race charge we gained 5 seonds on the man in front in 8 laps and eventually finished 12th overall and 4th in class..not a bed effort considering the conditions but room for improvement for tomorrows two races.

finished the weekend at donington on a high. after rainfall on the saturday night, we awoke to tricky conditions on track..after much deliberation and viewing of the track we left it until the last possible minute in the collecting area pre-race to change from what looked could be a dry race to wet tyres..the race before us, the vw cup were out on wets and the race pace was around 10 seconds off their qualy times. so we made the change to wets, and as we did we upset a few people so they decided to change to. it payed off well for us as our two class leaders stayed on slicks and had a horrid time, we ended the race 2nd in class and 11th overall, best result to date. the second race was a much easier call as it was absolutely bone dry so bolted the slicks on and sent it..being the final race of the season we expected carnage and after a slow start, callum made two places up on the outside of redgate, we had a fairly lonely but consistent race and once again bought it home in 2nd place and 12th place overall. so all in all not a bad weekend and a strong end to the season.
in one piece after qualy and three races!!
