I've got a 97" ecotec Corsa B 1.2, im currently getting like 200 miles a tank if im lucky. Now when i used to drive it hard

it used to smell of petrol inside, even if i left it for a alf hour i could still smell it.
It hasn't got any petrol leaks or anything. so just puzzled

I know 1.2's are ment to be economical thats all.
Any ideas anyone??
