5k for 185bhp on a 1.6!!!!! talk about getting ur pants puled down!

SBD do a TB 180bhp+ kit for the 1.6 for far less than that

8400rpm engine used for rallying, only 1 as far as i know, a 1.4 in a nova.

ah i really thought thata cam was the most effective way of getting the power on faster! I had a piper cam in my 1.3 sr nova and that flew along!
so you think that a velos inlet manifold, janspeed de-cat, unichip will be the way to go?? and how much bhp will i be looking at then?
also what price is for fitting the above??

also what difference will the con rod bolts make?? and why do i need a new header tank??
i think the velos stuff is the stuff i want after looking on their website, £1100 including fitting sounds reasonable for 30% increase, so thats around 120 bhp

the con rod bolts are simply changed for heavy duty items as the OE type will fail with too much power. As for the header tank, i dont have a clue why a bigger one would be needed.

wolf, so whats the torque tube and plenum chamber difference?
Suppose i will need to take the car to velos to have the work done, £1100 sounds good to me though

Torqe tube only replaces the top part of the manifold, like the lexmaull and mantzel 1!
The plenum replaces the bottom part 2!
They'll keep your old bottom part to make another 1 up!
The plenum has 43mm diameter pipes instead of 26mm (i think).
Plastic header tank wont fit any more so you can either sort your own out or get an ally/stainless 1 (approx £80 - ask them)!
I travelled 70miles from n.wales to burton and stayed in a travellodge!

As for times 0-60, aint got a clue! Guessin bout 140bhp at fly. Raced a nova van 2day, white, reg started k6, guessin its a 2ltr as it was close, just catching me!
Nearlly crashed though when sum1 pulled out as i aint got abs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

every1 says superchips are bad i no unichips are better but my mrs has a corsa sri 1.4 16v with a full powerflow zorst, janspeed manifold, kent cams, a superchip, ngk plugs an leads, piperx filter, ported polished head an we got a dyno test proven 126bhp 0-60 9 secs top speed 116mph an look a superchip involved not bad results considering there crap u lot are pathetic, believe anything u read in books dont get me a unichip is better but dont slag a superchip when they actually are good really try it urself to find out coz ppl are full of sh+t

yes, well most of us say superchips are crap from EXPERIENCE or word of mouth. Yeah they might be good for Diesels and hi-power rep mobiles, but superchips are designed for a STANDARD engine, and cannot take into account other engine modifications. That sri you are talking about can probably put out a LOT more power and torque with a properly configured unichip on a decent RR. so no,must of us are NOT full of shit.

so how much did all your work at velos cost you then?
for the inlet manifold, plenum chamber, unichip, header tank, con rod bolts and rolling road cost you then??
also do you have to remove the ecotoc cover to have these parts??

well if a superchip is designed for standard engines why is it highly RECOMMENDED that a high performance air filter an cat back exhaust system is used with a superchip to make work to its full patential this means the engine is no longer standard

Super chips will increase the power as they have a higher rpm limit.
Induction kits and exhausts should still work well with the chip the same way a normal car does.
Superchips wont be suitable for cams or inlet manifols though as these really need individual mapping as none of the engines sensors will know whats going on with the extra power!
