We had one of these. Fucking shocking.
Have the old silver NTLWorld one at the moment.

if you have the old "large grey" one then you need to have the smaller black one which is about 3-4inch sqaure in size.
i had the grey one and they had to send me the newer black smaller one as the oldskool effort couldnt handle the 20meg

while your there, id ask for the mac code.
When they ask why, say your going to an ISP that doesnt shock their customers when they download copyright material

And they'll laugh at him as he's a cable! - there's not many suppliers of cable in the uk
Unless you have an old motorola surfboard (looks like > this < from what i remember) or the Ambit 120, then both the silver Ambit250, aka NTL250, and the current black virgin modem will work with 20mb (as well as the samsung set top box, used in ex-CableWireless areas). Only the new 50mb service requires a new modem due it using Docsis 3 instead of the current Docsis 2 protocol that's used on the current cable network.

Yeah, the Surfboard SB3100 are only spec'd up to 10mb at the most (most of the time you'll be lucky to be pulling down 5mb on one). Give Cust Support a call and tell them you're on the 20mb service but have an old Motorola Surfboard SB3100 and they should send you out a new shiny black VirginMedia one
