i know the inlet manifold on the gsi is different to the 1.6 sport, the gsi inlet manifold is plastic, the gsi also has an afm which the 1.6 sport doesnt

yeah, was plenty more go in it but it's not cool doing that speed, i prefer just cruising along at 70mph to be honest, much less stress

and yes, real life coolness points are worth 10x what internetz points are

@ noobs believing speedos.

C16XE has 109bhp. I don't care what anyone says, it pulls harder, MUCH harder through the gears and rev range. X16 engine doesn't pull as hard.

C16 is 121mph, 0-60 in 8.9.
X16 is 119mph, 0-60 in 9.5

C16XE only came in 1993 and early 1994 GSi's. Late 1994 and early 95 came with the X16XE.

Then the 1.6 stopped in the corsa for 1 (or 2) years. Then came back out in the Sport in 97.

Some "tuners" will say there isn't much difference, but there is. Tried enough of both engines to confirm it.

Remember it'll be very hard now to gauge true performance and most C16's will be around 100k miles, and most X16's won't have near that.

Also C16's had problems with piston rings and gaskets ( and tensioners, but thats something else), but it was the better engine.

C16 was detuned from 150bhp t 109bhp.

X16 was based around the much lower output that the C16 came with. Also more "eco tree hugging hippy" CO2 friendly.

Oh, inlet ports are different shape too.

And before you ask.

Yup, its better to take out your X14 and put a C16/X16 in over tuning your 1.4.

Been there my friend, the 1.4 just doesn't have the torque. Its a great engine, one of the best in the 1400cc class for rallying, but on the road, it always gets stuffed by its bigger brothers.

The Gsi engine had larger valves and cams and flowed better. Therefore more tuneable and revved faster. My 1600 sport stops pulling at 128mph and thats with a Satnav.

Mate of mine with just an induction kit on his C16XE GSi easily pulled on me @ 80+ with my 1.6 sport (x16xe) with k&n panel, derestricted airbox, catback exhaust...

i had missus and some shopping in but his pulled so much harder to pull quite a big gap.

I was gutted! lol

I'd deffo say the C16 is best, been in a couple but dont really feel much diff up to 60/70 but not really experienced a C16XE above that.

In standard form you WONT tell the difference aslong as one driver isnt a complete spaz and cant drive in a straight line.

Just weight differences might play a big part @ proper speed maybe?

I had about 15 stone more in my car nevermind the aircon and side impact bars etc etc but the gap was quite big so I gave up @ 100 lol
