Bit of a random one here.
I don't even use Sky  A mate has decided to ditch his Sky+ subscription, and has been left the box to use a Freeview receiver. However, when he cancelled the subscription, the programmes he had recorded onto the Hard Drive disappeared, and he can't use the recording side of the box.
Is there anyway to regain the function of this, or is it a case of once Sky cancel the subscription, that part of the box is locked?
Any way it can be hacked?!

there must be a way around it, can you not use the sky + on the sky freesat for free?

You must be a subscriber to use Sky+. You used to have to pay for Sky+ all those years ago when it first came out, and the boxes are still setup so that Sky can turn the PVR on and off at their will.

Cheers, I thought that probably was the case tbh, but wasn't sure.
My mate thought you may be able to hack through Sky's coding or buy a dodgy card that fools the box into thinking it was all legit still - I wasn't convinced but thought I'd ask anyway!

Sky boxes aren't really that hackable. There are probably ways, but no mainstream knowledge as such that I know of...
