varies dependent on the wheel, but i asked this a while back and got 7kg for an alloy without tyres, and somebody else said it 15kg for a 15" Vaux 5 spoke with tyre!

I have same wheels - 5.5kgs per rim (weighed them myself to double check ) Bloody tyres are heavier than the rims!

Has anybody imported any Magnesium wheels. I saw them on a feature RX-7 a while ago in America but the only thing ive seen with these is my mates bike. Its an Aprilla RSV-1000 with blue magnesium wheels, they cost £1500 for the front and £1750 for the rear! Then you have to put rubber round them.

Magnesium wheels are very strong for the weight, but they don't have the longterm durability compared to Alu. In time micro-cracks form and water and salt can leech in, which weakens the structure. So for road use, best stick to aluminium.

That'll be one of the reasons why he dosn't ride it in the rain then.
