I have just installed a new head unit a Sony CDXMP40, the install went easy enough no probs removing bits and pieces getting it all wired up but the front panel is not working, the power comes on and it runs through the intro but none of the button work properly at all except the power button and if I put a CD in it plays but none of the buttons work at all on the front panel or the remote, I have reset it via the reset button on the unit but still no joy????

yep, take it back mate. Either that or, halfords will unlock Sony headunits. Weather or not that has happened. Give it a go. Might work.

What this about locking? Its brand new ordered from MCS Direst cam this morning so whats the unlock thing?

well sometimes when people are fitting HU's they knock them about a bit. And the HU locks itself. (thinks its getting nicked) so you go to halfords and they will unlock, FOR FREE.

I did not knock it tho and it still work wehn I put a CD in it plays but none of the buttons respond?
