I have a x16xe with a c16xe ported & polished coscast head. I have notaced that it dosn't seem as pokey as it used to be.

It seems sluggish when you rev it up until it gets to 4000rpm where it seems to shoot up to the limiter. same when its driving.

It has developed flat spots under acceleration and likes to kangaroo when its driven at a constant slow speed.

Its drinking petrol like water, kicking flames out of the exhaust when changing gear fast, and wont do more than 110mph (did 135 on the track)

If anybody had this problem before or got any ideas at all please let me know as its doing about 15mpg and i cant afford it. lol

eml is working. is it the key that wears or the pulley itself because there is a couple of mil of play. if its the key is it a pain to replace??

Which pulley exactly is this?

Mine seems a bit flat at the bottom end, not sure if thats the problem.

Or would the inlet (mantzel style) be causing this, due to running on a standard map??

no i have a replicar manzel too, and havent had it mapped, runns spot on!
apparently is a very common fault with vauxhaul engines,
the aux belt pulley, outer pulley bolted on end of crankshaft, this had teeth around it with are pik ups for the crank sensor, sometimes,
the crank sensor works out where tdc is and sometimes can make the car not start,
take off the outer pulley torx bolt, check condition of the slot on inside of pulley,
then you will see the small crankshaft pulley it will have a key/notch that the puter pulley locks onto, check the conditon of that, should be perfect, if not it will need changing,

alterations in the timing will cause flatness i had it really bad
