Ok on my fez zs i currently have 20mm axle spacers (20mm each side, 40mm total width gain), these spacers fit between the axle the brake and cannot be seen. Also they are before the wheel bearing. I am told they dont stress the bearings anymore than not having them.

A few weeks after fitting them and lowering the car 35mm, BOTH rear wheel bearings went.

Anyway i want to take the wheels out a further 15 / 20mm using hub-centric spacers behind the wheels.

Is this safe / would i have bearing problems? Im pretty sure it would be safe but main worry is can bearings handle this and still stay reliable. I have proper ford st alloy wheels correct fitment etc.

If you think, 20mm axle spacers and 20mm wheel spacers both sides will total 80mm extra track width on the rear...

They do stress the bearings more, as the weight on the bearing is being brought further down the beam due to the wheels being further out in the arches.

Yeah, less body-roll = more wheel bearing stress no matter how you go about eliminating the roll.

I just need my car to be reliable and dont want the wheel bearings popping all the time but want to get it a little wider.

Uprated bearings then?

Don't see the point of making it wider really. Looks or handling? If the latter then just get a decent coilover kit and some rollbars and away you go!
