Hi everyone,

I want to convert an original shape corsa into a track car and for that I will obviously want to replace the engine and gearbox. I don't want to use the red top engine as I wanna run carbs so I was hoping someone could give me some possible gearbox/carb engine combinations that could work for me. If you feel this is a bad idea please give constructive critisism.

Many thanks.

You can use carbs on a redtop.

you need a carb fuel pump because injection pumps are too high pressured, carbs, inlet manifold, if you are running an old distributer you don't need an aftermarket ecu, if you have the later redtop engine you need a different ecu to control ignition timing.

as sand eel has said, need a new FPR as carbs want to be getting around 3-4psi of fuel pressure, instead of about 30-50odd psi as injection.

not 100% but i think you'd need to run a 1.6cav dizzy, but i may be wrong.

ideally you'd also want a set of 45's.

whats the spec of the rest of the engine going to be?
