If its Dolby Pro Loic II then it can turn a stero signal into 5.1 so should work all the time.

Depends on spec

You will need digital output leads from TV to surround sound to get the sky/tv sounds coming through the surround sound permanently.

i have everything plugged into my tv with hdmi cables, and an optical cable from the tv to the surround that way any sound source to the tv is directed straight to the surround

Do you have Sky+ or HD? If so, use an optical cable from the skybox or TV to the surround sound, as some movies support dolby digital which you wont get by using an analogue cable (red + white phonos)
This will give you the best sound but is dependent on what connections your kit has

Couldnt you just get phono leads and connect to the sky box?

got ours set up last ngiht and am quite disapointed with the pciture to be honest.

plasma seems to show a lot of noise and distoartion for the sky box. Think i may need to switch to Sky HD.
