right, I have been cleaning and polishing cars for years, but having just changed the car, I feel it is time to do this one properly from the start.

I already use two buckets, lambswool mitt, decent pressure washer with foam attachment, decent shampoo and polishes, but what else should i buy?

I currently pre-wash with pressure washer
Foam with pressure washer - using Halfords shampoo as not got any foam
Wash by hand using mitt - currently Autoglym shampoo
Rinse - tap water through pressure washer
Chamois ( Autoglym synthetic chamois)
Meguiars Gold Class Polish (on with applicator pad, off with microfibre cloths)
Clean glass, leather, metal with Autoglym creams

I know i should buy a clay kit to use following chamois, but what else? A decent was to use before the Gold Class, or a sealant?

I want to spend a day on it, and then to be able to quickly get it back to a good shine when i am short of time.

Car is metallic silver if that makes any difference?

Spend £30 on a DoDo Juice colour charged wax and sack off the Meguiars Gold Class!

You won't regret buying it

One bucket for clean, soapy water and another to drip your sponge/wash mitt into to get all the grit and dirt off before you put it back into the clean one again.

having looked at these links, i need to buy a clay bar. i already have Megs Quik Detailer, so can use that as lube.

I need to buy a decent polish and a decent wax to replace the Megs Gold Class I currently use.

What wax and what polish do you guys recommend. Can't spend a fortune on this so no Zymol at £5k a pot etc etc

If you want a good finish and to make it easier on your self clay is a must.
It helps reduse swirls and scratches and leave the paint feeling smooth as ice.

Gold glass wax is ok, but not the best out there.
If you want to keep it megs, nxt is much nicer, with a few layers its perfect.

A lift polish/glaze is a good start to do, that will help bright the deeper shine out of the metalic in the silver then the wax over the top brings the shine right up.

Petes 53 Wax
or
DoDo Juice Light Fantastic

A decent polish before hand topped of with one of those two waxes and it will give a wet look shine and a bit more depth to the paint!

I like Meguiars #7 (Show Car Glaze) before waxing seems to add some depth to the colour / paint
