Some will swear by only using genuine parts. In my experience aftermarket is ok

Normally I swear by Genuine GM in these areas.
On my XE I have fitted an aftermarket waterpump which looked as well made as the GM one removed.
The cambelt kit was genuine GM but I wasn;t impressed with it. The car has not even been driven yet, Has done roughly 30 mins idle speed and this was the result.
Full kit has been returned awaiting a replacement.
If you get a good quality kit with a gates belt then aftermarket is just as good and cheaper.
GM don't make the kits anyway. Phone Autovaux and ask for a good quality kit.

That's a genuine GM roller, Has had 30 mins of use at no more than 3k rpm. All that green stuff is grease from the bearings. NOT GOOD.
After 2 mins of starting the engine it'd make a rattling noise as it warmed up. Was the bearings on the roller. if left the roller would of collapsed causing major damage.

It's foolish not to imo. I always change the water pump when doing the cambelt.
