£450 for mapping isn't that usually priced for a standard ecu? I though after market was usually around the £250 mark.

there is no "best" management

use IMO choose your tuner and go with what they work with taking into account manufactures back up and support

the ECU will make little difrence if the person mapping is clueless

aftermarket ones are easier to map so are generally cheaper.
Actually i remember i was going to get my standard ecu mapped but they were asking £450.

IMO thats bollocks

generic map on a standard ecu or a taylord map using a rolling road and a massively trained and knowledgeable operator and then possibly adjusted on the road whilst using widebands and det cans etc

i'll think your find a proper stand alone ecu map by a well respected tuner will be more

I mean both remapped live, usually the standard ecus are harder to map than aftermarket, obviously AM ecus have bigger parameters and are designed for what they are intended.

Its all very dependant on whats being done to the car, forexample we can remap a fiesta st which has been supercharged for around £300 if the customer already has a certain device called a dreamscience box if not the box costs anbother 400...

also you need to remember that alot of cars with remaps to standard ecus already drive, with aftermarket you are more than likely mapping something which hasnt been done before, if so then you can buy a base map and have it altered to suit saving money....

there are alot of variables, also consider the equipment needed to map a car, if your mapping pectel you need to buy a comms lead off them, which isnt cheap so the cost of the map needs to recop some of the costs in buying equipment, also ever looked into the prices of a decent rolling road, a maha 4wd rolling road considered to be one of the best out there would set you back upwards of £80,000 plus fitting!

aye dastek are £70/h
Dreamscience is that a type of piggy back ecu? whats the pros and cons of piggy back ecus? i'm thinking the price is less than complete standalone, but surely having the standard one still there will have its draw backs.

we charge by the hour aswell.

dreamscience is a flash tool that allows the standard ecu to be remapped on fords and the vxr range.

I was going to say, the original map on my old corsa was in the region of £450 -

You usually have to work up from a generic base map and adjust everything to suit the engine and setup

If you are 'mapping' a standard ecu (if you can call it that rather than upload a map to ecu) then you already have half the work done

Again my old corsa a remap after the original map only cost £175 iirc
