Never had one for mine, just tole them the engine was a 1988 or something. As long as its on the log book you should be fine

if it originally had one in you do need it otherwise your emissions test will be very high for the engine size. Also if you are very VERY unlucky the police can stop you and request an emissions test, fail and there is a huge fine and no more car....
