hello guys.

thinking of tuning my 1.2 8v engine, because i cant afford to put a bigger engine in and insure it.

obviously im not expecting stupid power gains or anything daft like that just want to have a play.

i was thinking of a new exhuast system,i have also heard you can put bigger cams in? if so which one would you recommend.
And any other ideas for abit more power.

cheers

i no in the nova 1.2 8v you could swap the head for the sr one which was 1.4 which gave a tad more power but not much, straight through exhaust, induction kit are the easiest and chepest but like you say not massive gains.

unsure if you ould swap the bottom end for 1.4 either cant remember its years since iv looked into it

Have you thought about insurance once you've declared your mods?

Have patience and stick with the 1.2 8v. You can only get reasonable insurance on a 1.2 8v for a reason!

You'll be surprised how much mods increase your insurance premium, if you want to be legal on the road.

ive always found cosmetic mods put far more onto the premium. carbon bonnet cost more on insurance than giving it 100bhp.

Decent filter, an exhaust off a higher spec model (or a 4 branch), a cam off a GTE Nova (if my memory serves me right). Usual sorta stuff.

Im sure if you fit a 1.8 SPi inlet off a Cavalier, a Astra MK3 1.6SPi throttle body with a Nova/Astra/Corsa 1.4SPi injector, youl get good gains.

Im sure a couple guys on here have done that too....

Il do some hunting...

EDIT: Have a look here http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93429&highlight=tuning

Ste L off here has made this, but it is for a Nova so some parts may differ.
