Ok i have re-thought about things and now looking to put a bit more towards a digital slr as i'll be buying one out of next months wages

At the mo i have these options....

Nikon D40 with 18-55mm lens
Sony Alpha 200 with 18-70mm lens
Canon EOS 1000d with 18-55mm IS lens
Nikon D60 with 18-55mm ED lens
Nikon D60 with 18-55mm VR lens (at a real push!!)

What does the mm mean on the lens's mean? Please give your view on them ALL as i'd like to weight my own opinion on them too as well as yours

Thanks

Not sure if I put this in another thread, but get down your local Jessops and try them all - to be fair they're all very similar and you'd be best trying them out yourself.

As for the 'mm' on the lenses, thats just a rating as to what sort of pictures you'll get - ie. at 18mm, you'll get a wide angle, at 55mm it'll not be quite so wide (ie. zoomed in a bit).

mm stands for millimeters, the higher the number, the further you can zoom in with it.

Your best going to a camera shop with that list and asking if you can look at them all. They should let you have a little try with it too. You may find you dont like the way you have to work one camera etc

I saw him twice with that camera, the first time I had it most of the time and left him with the Fuji, he didn't have a clue with that either
