HSBC are now taking part in the quicker transfer scheme which quite a few banks are part of. (14 off the top of my head). It can be as little as 2 hours now. Although not sure if Nationwide joined the scheme.

Yep, but paypal are a bunch of fucking twats who think they can snatch everyones money and get away with it, then when you need any help you find their help system completely fucking useless.

My wages go from a barcalays to a lloyds and its pretty much instant now via BACS.

I agree about paypal and ebay being twats but it's an extremely easy way of sending money compared to the hassle the banks make it.

If this instant transfer comes into place universally I can see paypal losing a lot of business.

HSBC to HSBC is instant.
HSBC to any bank who do FPS is less than 2 hours but more or less instant in a lot of cases.
HSBC to other banks not in it are upto 3 days.

I cant remember off the top of my head, but I dont think Nationwide are part of the FPS.

nationwide arnt part of FPS yet ( i work for voca link who deal with it all)

Should get done pretty much instant obv takes time for net banking to update sometimes, plus if theres a backlog or batch issue when sending through can cause some delaye (hence we say 2 - 3 hours)

stage 2 of the FPS plan is getting rolled in in the next few months which will open up alot more oppertunities for other banks 3rd party beneficieries etc to join so nationwide may be on that band wagon

The answer is 2 working days.

AFAIK, Nationwide will be enabling faster payments by March (so they tell me).

We are currently rolling out this service to FlexAccount customers and aim to be completed by the end of March 2009
