Ask candidates for a job to send in a picture with their CV?

As for a local designer clothing store they are.

wouldnt of thought it was illegal to ask for it no, would be bad if they gave the job based on looks though but that would be impossible to prove.

i think its legal, but they cant prove you discriminated against them by just asking for a photo

Dont think so, alot of expensive bars or clubs ask for a photo with CV to save interviewing heffers/dogs.

i wouldn't have thought so. certain jobs require you to have a certain image.

Its not illegal, but it would be if you discriminated against anyone who applied due to their looks.

You cant even legally ask someone their age in an interview anymore

Saves interview time I suppose, they are going to see your appearance either way unless you're a Burka wearing Muslim.

they wouldn't even respond to you if you didn't look right so you would have no proof that you were discriminated against.

or just say that the position was already filled by the time they recieved your application. surely that can't be classed as discrimination?

I'll be very honest here and say I wouldn't ever employ a muslim or an ex-convict, not because of who they are but because it would introduce conflict within the firm and disrupt the way my firm works, and an ex-con may steal my materials etc.....

company I work for always ask for one to be brought to interview, they've got more photos of me than I have
