today it said my software could update so i clicked ok, it then failed and on my ipod is the pic of it syncing and it wont go away, even if you turn it on and off it just comes up with the usb plug pointing to a disc.... help please

run the update again. if you can get it to complete then connect it up to the ipod again, making sure that itunes is running when you do.
