What are they like to live with?
You can get a decent one for about £3500, and insure them for about £500.
Looking at buying one with recaro's and 190bhp. S reg.
Know absolutely nothing about them though, what should you look for, what breaks on them? Are they reliable?
It's a fresh import, so its had no UK owners yet. It has mph clocks though.

My mate had the Starlet on J plate and it went forever, brakes werent great on it but it was the older model, and he did use to give it death on full boost all the time, 0-60 his was quicker than my astra.
Also the Celica GT4/ Mr2 Turbo engine conversion is very common

You get a very light, basic car, with crap dash/seats and a turbo lump - but thats what theyre like.
being jap it wouldnt only take 10mins to take to bits to fix stuff, celica turbos go on them i think too...190bhp will be enough in a starbo...

My mates just got one. (i refer to it as a Corsa as they are so common now..)
Good fun wee car when you bypass the boost solenoid (limits boost in 1st and second gear).
Definately not a rocket ship but they are good fun!
Bad for rot etc but if its a fresh import you should be ok.
I had an EP91 Starlet SR and it was good fun too, Handled ok too.
By the way, my mate got his Glanza for £2k....

my glanza v when i had mine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IEcoBhdKE8&feature=channel_page
enjoy!
i rate them. as said the brakes are not so great! never had any rot problems with mine, rare to burst into flames, 190bhp will be pushed on standard turbo, celica turbos swaps are not common..... td04 turbo swaps are of which are scobby ones. engines last forever. limit on standard engines is around 200-210bhp.
over all alot of cheap fun.

Great little cars, ive had mine for nearly 4 months know and love it, iv had no problems with it at all. Great fun to drive. Power ca be gained fairly Easy. My car was running 146bhp 150ft/lb but i expect it to be at least mid 150's know with the Front Mount and the Manifold. Ill find out what its like down the Pod Sunday
My friend has a 230bhp Starlet GT and that is mad. but i think you can happily have a reliable 190-200bhp starlet tbh
lovely and easy to work on with the turbo being right at the front to
StarletGTTurbo is more of a GT site, http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index.php? is a bit better for Glanzas in my opinion
