ive asked this a couple of times now but i really need to what it could be. when driving and you come to slow down then put your foot down again it makes this like quite loud rattling from the engine bay. the harder you put your foot down the louder it is! Ive been reading couple of problems off here and i think it could be something to do with the timing belt/chain the case what goes round there aswell its knackerd and not bolted on at the bottom of the case so it could be rattling on something but a dont think it could be.

do you mean when u you accelerate hard from low revs? and is it an 8 valve engine? if so then all of my 8 valve corsas have done it. dont know what it is to be honest but not anything to worry about

ye exactly when u accelerate from low revs it rattles from somwere in engine bay till it picks speed back up its really annoying lol as anyone told u what it could be?

Timing belt would generally be apparent all the time not just under load.
If the cover isn't attached properly, fix that first.

all i can think off it a lose heat shield, belt cover or any cover for the fact, because when you put your foot down at low revs you are putting more load on the engine which would cause vibrations under the bonnet, check all bolts and nuts on any covers and shiels and see how it goes if not get some one in the car to put it in gear with the hand brake on and keep getting it to bite on the clutch and see if you can hear/see/feel any thing under the hood

a carnt really describe it tbh its just like a rattling its quite loud tho when i put foot down hard on low revs it makes the rattling noise until i pick up speed if u get me. its just wierd it goes when i pick back up speed sounds like somethings broken to me or summert really hard to explain mate
could be something catching on summert

does it no matter how long ive had it running, When 1st started does it aswell say if im going down a road in 3rd then after slow quite down and keep in same gear it makes the noise till i pick back up speed again if u understand that mate lol its just 1 of those things u carnt really explain over internet lol

does it do it when you first start it up? not driveing, just when you key it over 1st thing in the morning??

no it dosent do it at all mate like i say the only time it does it is accelerating hard at low revs till u pick up speed and what ive just said before ^ about the gears etc

well again all i can think off is a loose cover/ heatshield or possibly a warn gear box/ engine mount, the rubber can perish on the mounts which could make them rattle under load but best bet is to check every thing is tight under your bonnet (covers/heat shields)
and then check ya mounts out, and very rare but check your anti roll bar rubber bushes out just incase

on the exhaust manifold and under the car above where the exhaust runs, ohh and check the exhaust isnt rattling against any thing

Hi mate, i had a similiar problem with my corsa. Accelerate hard and this noise would come from the engine bay.
The weird thing was when i took it to the mechanic it would stop again. Also no-one else in the car could here it.
Mine turned out to be a timing chain. The chain itself cost approximately £100 new. Fitting is quite expensive depending where you go.
One garage quoted me £850! lol. I just got a new engine instead, £350 fitted! Just take it to your mechanic or someone and ask them what they think. Hope this helps.

just had the casing off the timing belt and when i rev the engine the belt like shakes and vibrates side to side looks slack could this be the problem making the noise does anyone no?
