Hi,
My GF is looking to change jobs, she is currently working at a major optical lens company and is looking to move into an opticians role.
She has the qualifications to be a dispensing optician to adults at the moment but not a full optical degree.
Does anyone know of any highstreet chains that may take her on and provide the training she needs to get the full opticians job? Or is it a case of going to uni for a couple years to get the peice of paper?
If anyone has any advice and knows about this area of work please feel free to message me

She is a Dispensing Optician? If so then there is a 1 year course at Bradford uni which is for Optomotrist (optician) then 1 years pre-registration (exams at the end of the year) which you then become fully qualified. The course however is about 14k. Its something I am considering as I am doing the Dispensing optician course.

Ahhhh thats interesting.
It would be ideal to find somewhere that would employ her and put her through that course knowing they would have her working there afterwards.
Its a shame the course costs so much 
Is Bradford the only place that does that course?
I am living in Warwickshire so would be nice to have somewhere closer

my girlfriend got into specsavers for work experience when we were 15 at school, they kept her on and she trained as a dispensing optician, she did her A levels and went to uni working at specsavers when ever she was home from uni, she will be graduating this year and will be a fully qualified optician, its 3 years at uni and then 1 year working in a practice doing pre reg, she will be doing her pre reg in specsavers.
