Will the wheels polish/clean up at all? That would be a bit put-off for me as they look expensive, so polished up expensive looking wheels could add a few £.
Get some T-cut on that orange rust, then take a pic. You will hardly see it at all and would look alot more minor.

What car was it?
I think the law is wrong in this case. The car should be catergorised like the wrtie off situations, and re registerd on a different plate. I know you still loose out, but at least you still get the car.
