i have sky box and i want to use a sky plus box. im not bothered about the recording one tihng at some other time effort. i just want to be able to record stuff on it. can i just plug in a sky+ box and it will work like that?

You'll need to phone sky to get the card paired to the box and sky+ features enabled but yes.

Do you not need a dual LNG cable and sky will charge you a tenner a month for the abilty to record if you just on freesat

no im on proper sky. i want to change a box thats on multiroom from normal sky to a sky+ one

You won't be able to record 2 channels or watch one and record another but it'll work with one feed, just phone sky and pair the card and box.

wont cost more to pair it will it? im not too fusse about record one while watch another. im not in enough to want to watch 2 things at once

Nope, just phone the technical support people, i'm sure no matter who you phone they should be able to transfer you though.

Why do you want Sky+ with only one feed?
Do you have Sky+ in another room? If so, buy some coaxial off eBay and run another feed from the dish.
Sky won't charge you to pair the original card with the new box.
