Getting tugged for no mot imposes a £40 fixed penalty fine, aroung £18 court costs and will not gain you any points. Police cant impound your car or stick a prohibition notice on it unless there is anything visibly defective on it that may cause it to crash.
Insurance is NEVER invalid, even with no mot or tax your 3rd party cover is always present and that is the only legal requirement of driving on the queens highway.

im pretty sure if you 'forgot', were very appologetic and handed them a valid mot within 48hrs they would let it go.
