I dry most of my clothes on the banister on my landing, but often hand a few bits up in my bedroom on an airer or over the wardrobe doors.

The radiator in my room isn't very efficient so i'd previously kept my windows shut to try and keep a bit of heat in. I'd rarely open my curtains, and also i usually shut my door to keep the cats off of my bed and stop my house mate going in there.

I'd had to clean some mould off of my window reveals a couple of months ago, and mop up some water that was collecting on my window sill. I'd noticed a bit of mould on teh wall behind my bed too, but kept putting off cleaning it up.

I eventually got around to pulling the bed out to have a clean and was met with these horrors

This was where there was just a small gap between the bed and the wall, and there was obviously no air movement in the room.

It cleaned up fine with diluted bleach and some Mould and mildew cleaner.
(good product )

Now i try not to dry clothes in there, open my curtains every day, keep my windows on night latch, and leave the door ajar.

I know it's pretty disgusting, but rest assured it's clean now and the rest of the house isn't like that.
I thought i'd post this to prove the importance of ventilation and air changes.

My bedroom last year in my student house was 10x worse than that, i left the window open all day and night and had the radiator on full blast to keep warm, but the shitty stuff just kept coming back.

I kept cleaning it off and it got to the point where I was taking off more paint than mould, glad I got out of there

that's not the bedsheet it's the valance to cover the bed base. The matress was off of the bed at the time.

I couldn't smell it, but i had a virus and then tonsilitis which may or may not have been related and my g/f mentioned a throaty cough a few times after staying over, so no doubt it's not particularly healthy for you.

danny, your's sounds like it was caused by rising damp rather than water vapour.

I'm not proud of the mess, but if it helps anyone else in the slightest then i don't mind sharing it.
