On my way home last night was going onto the motorway got off the slip road and went to put the clutch down to change gear, heard a noise that all I can desribe as a "twang!". Clutch pedal is sat almost on the floor, so initially I thought the clutch cable had snapped. After getting home an hour or so later, I checked the cable and it was fine, at this point I asked a mate and he said it sounded like the clutch had gone. This morning I went out and checked again and the clutch fork is sat permanently in the "pedal pressed" position (as far back towards the bulkhead as it will go).
So has the clutch definitely gone?
Thanks in advance

Looking inside the bonnet at the top of the gearbox, is the cable resting in the lever correctly? Try adjusting that to raise the pedal and see if that's any good first imo

Went out to have a proper check now and to tighten the cable up. Tightened it up and went for a "test" as it seemed fixed, on the way back went to change gear and same thing again. Went back and checked again, nothing on the end of the cable and the threads on the cable for the nut stripped.
