Pop-up flash is apparently OK from the people I've asked.

I'd go for wide angle/fish eye lens as I find they can make a simple, boring shot look a lot more interesting...

I reckon you would be better with a wideish angle prime, Ive used the 50mm on a few nights out, set it to f2 and used the pop up flash, and it was spot on, no good for group shots though

be sorted if you could sort a 20mm out

It needs to be able to do group shots, and also shots of a big crowd like ethe one in my avatar. Thats why i thought i would need to get myself a flash gun.

Matt, a 50mm prime would be far too long. There's not always a lot of space in clubs!

That's your only option then really.

I just invested in a 10-20mm lens and I can't stop taking pictures... It's just amazing how wide it is! It could get some amazing night club shots, but it's not very fast at f/4.

Canon do a 15mm fisheye lens which is f/2.8. I've got my eye on a few on eBay but they're all like £450+.

It's a shame, 'cus the 50mm f/1.8 is so sharp, provides an amazing bokeh background and only £70 new!

low f number, high iso (depending on the lighting), second sync flash would be quite good to get some funky effects aswell... (if you use a slightly longer shutter speed) just my opinions though never done it properly but im shooting at my cousins 21st on saturday night (whilst getting drunk so pics may not be so good) but hopefully they should turn out well.

Every time I go clubbing some idiot just projectile pukes, or generally moron bints walk around holding 7 bottles of WKD slopping it everywhere. I know if I took my camera it'd get shitted up! I'd love to attempt it, but not sure it's worth it!

I've never seen a 'tog in clubs, unless they're hired by the actual club. I wonder if they'd be OK with you bringing a big SLR in with a big external flash and so on?

Must look so sad to people who don't understand it! To be honest, even though I do understand it, if I saw some bloke with all his camera gear in a club I'd think he was a bit sad too!

It's a difficult one really!

I do wanna give it a shot soon, though. Need a fast prime...
