Quite common i believe but why does my 20xe tap for a couple of seconds when its fired up? Something to do with oil in the lifters i was told but just WTF that actually means lol and wondered if it was a bad thing and how do i fix it because it never used to do it?

I don't think you really can fix noisy lifters unless you replace them...
I wouldn't say them being noisy is justification to replace them though

Common cause with the XE & LET's. I've had 3 XE engines & only 1 didn't tap from cold.
Get some wynes hydraulic lifter treatmeant, it will keep them badboy's quiet for a while

The hydraulic lifters are effectively updside down buckets with a little rubber seal for a lid. When they're passed their best, the rubber 'lid' becomes worn, so when the engine is turned off, the oil within them drains down back into the engine... therefore when you start the car the lifters are empty, and tap until they fill with oil again.
Providing they stop soon after starting the car it makes no odds; just be wary if it ever happens while driving as it could mean a drop in oil pressure has caused them to empty.
