Well i'm finally getting fed up of using my 5mp camera phone.

I not really clued up on cameras, so if anyone could help me out on what to chose for a beginer that would be great.

Budget wise £100 - £150.

Dunno if you saw my one at the meet but I have a Nikon Coolpix S210. 8MP, about £100 and very good for a beginner camera imo Really easy to use.

Why not go for a D-SLR?

My girlfriend picked a Canon 400D up for £250 about 3 months ago, but I've seen them going for £190 on the bay with the 18-55mm kit lens!

It's a lot of camera for the money, and if you get into photography you'll only want to upgrade anyway. It gives you so much control and for a few quid more you'd be silly not to really!

If you think it'll be too complicated or whatever, it has a 'AUTO' mode which will be very similar to a compact camera, just better quality!

I agree if you buy a DSLR and use Auto you need your head looking. I finally managed to turn the dial on my dads DLSR away from Auto the other week.

Exactly, the main reason I got it is that it's something like 18mm thick so can go in my pocket at gigs

Really good camera though

Does yours look kinda like a dark purpley-brown as opposed to black though? Mine doesn't look anywhere near as dark as the pics in t'internet.
